Well I have 2 dual 4 ohm subs that I am trying to wire in parallel. Now at the end of the wire I am getting 2.7 ohms. That is a big increase from 1 ohm in which it should be but I wired it at 4 ohm just fine. The problem is when hooked to an amp it clips. What are your suggestions? I have discussed this with kicker and other knowledgeable techs and to no prevail.

What subs? What wires? You measuring with subs in box or out? Measure each individual coil?

Something is definately not right if its reading 2.7

Lets say one coil was bad..
one sub would be at 2 ohms(wired down), while the bad one would be at 4.. Give or take a few tenths of an ohm.
According to my math.. If one coil was bad, you should see 3 ohms.. Once again.. Give or take a few tenths.

Also what makes you think it's "clipping"?
And also welcome to the forum. Are you local?

I checked each voice coil both subs and voice coils read 4 ohms they are kicker L7 15s I have 4 total 2 on each amp......
2 mrx-m240 amps and 4 kicker l7 15s dual 4 ohm when ran at 4 ohm at the end of the wire I get 3.8 to 4 ohms but when I ran 2 the other way I get 2.7 ohms does that make sense?

Mod freak I am in Altamont ny. I have been doing car audio for a long time but this one has me stumped lol the funny thing is everything works fine at 4 ohm but since I am only getting 1500 at 4 ohm I am not happy. The amps push out 2400 at 2 ohm

I did check each coil from each sub all reading 3.9 to 4.0 ohms.

I have two of the same amps set in the same position and they both clip. (Subs are getting dc current) (fighting back and forth you know like it's pushing one way and pushing the other way also) I would agree that something was wrong with the subs but then why are they both reading 4 ohms at each voice coil? (Also why would they read right when ran at 4 and work perfectly?

Take each sub and wire just the two VC in parallel. What do they each read.
Do not wire the subs together.

Ok so my meter has let me down. It has been giving me the wrong reading. So I was dropping the ohm load farther than what my amp can handle. In other words why I was clipping

I don't believe your amp would be clipping running it at a lower ohm load than what it's rated to be stable at. In fact most mainstream brand amps will have a low impedance protection just for that reason. I know the alpine mrp2000 does have that. Clipping comes from dirty signal starting at the head unit then thru the rest of the system. If your deck volume goes up to let's say 50, it's very possible that the deck clips at volume 38 (this is just example) so now if you listen to your volume any higher you are now sending dirty signal to everything in your vehicle. So there can be many factors in what is clipping And where it's coming from. And also whatever your decks rca voltage is say it's 4v pre outs, you want to be at 4v setting on the gain at your amps bc if you are any higher than the 4v on the amps now your amps are clipping like a mofo. What I guess I'm getting at is I'm not sure if too low of an impedance will make everything clip. I've ran amps at .25ohm and still didn't have clipping, but we're also talking about Crescendo and Incriminator Audio amps and DD.

Stupid meter made me take out the subs and try to rewire on them when they were already correct
