what's up my dudes?
so i was talking to a guy at boomers a few days ago about my system. I'm trying to figure out what kind of storage I'm Gonna need. im not a fan on "car audio" batteries. i mean there really no different then the die hard batteries at sears for half the price. and there only as good as your alt. meaning that if your alt can't Keep your voltage up the bats aren't gonna do it either. the best they can rest at is 13.1 and that's if your not dipping into the reserve of the bats.
anyway he stared talking about the xstatic 3000 batcap. which does have a resting voltage of 14 and a single batcap 3000 can handle a 4,000w system by itself! they are $380 for one which is the price of 2 good amg bats anyway.
i seen a vid where a kid had a dc 5k on 2 15xls, he was running 2 xs 2400s or maybe the 1800 idk the xs that is suppose to handle a 2400w system. i get confused between the stinger and xs powet ratings. but anyway as you guys know there not cheap. well he took the 2 "2400w" batteries out and hooked up the single batcap 3000 not only did his voltage not drop below 13.8 (13.1 with the xs bats) but he gained a full db on the term lab. YEA A FULL DB! he had a 275 mecham alt with a stinger upfront.
so I'm pretty sure I'm gonna run one batcap 3000 in the rear for now. and see what happens. its still cheaper then buying 2 xs bats that won't really help anyway if my alt can't cope. but if it does work I'm gonna replace the yellow top under the hood with batcap 800 which is meant for going under the hood. but if the batcap can't hang under heavy drops i think I'm just gonna add another amg for storage.
the main reason i really want the batcap besides the price and ability is space! i don't have the room for a bank of 3 huge bats. I'm.already trying to fit 10lbs of shit into a 5lb sack.

also the cycle rate on these things is inane! the guy at boomers told me that a costumer hooked the + from the car to the - of the battery and the - from the car to the + on the batcap and it discharged so fast that it threw a arc to the frame of the car 2 feet away and blew a hole threw his quarter panel! the guy is lucky that it didn't go to him instead! so I'm sure i just peaked some interest in some of you. it will be a Lil while before i can get one but I'll be sure to post the results! wish i had some big xs or stinger bats to do a few tests with and see what's really up!
