Well i always carry a small tool box and extra fluids just in case and theres only like a foot of extra room behind box so im hoping to block it off and have it get louder cus its already getting nutty around 30 to 36hz

If you make beauty panels and completely seal off the rear of the trunk it will make it over all louder. Cause it has less area to fill with the pressure.

it depends. put a single ten in the cabin and yOu'll have almost no bass. but it in the back of your trunk allot of bass. put 4 15s in the trunk a Lil bass put them in the cabin.. lots of bass! it all depends on motor force and air space. favorite analogy is... if you jump into the middle of the ocean there will be a little wave, but jump into a kiddie pool and you'll knock all the water out! it's finding the right Size pool to make the biggest wave!

This is tru n i have like the smallest trunk out of all of us so maybie blocking it off and opening my old skiboot slot will turn trunk into a semi 4th order or even having my driver side 40 seat down is loud

I've seen stranger things happen. and usually when you have the 60/40 seats irs louder with the 40 down. guessing because it acts like a 4th/6th. but you have a ski hole and a 40/60 seat? i want that!

hmmm it must be the older impala's... because my subs are louder when facing front and in the seat opening then when it's facing either front or back in the rear... must be that the air moves more freely

you mean seats down subs right up to the opening? if so that's really odd. it's almost always louder with them pushed back into the trunk. ask Joe, that's why we took his gear apart at the meet. he had them as if it was a pony wall build (sealed off from the trunk) and had what i thought was very little output and almost no.lows. so wepushed them back a Lil and he gained. his wires were to short so we pulled everything.. realized he was running at 4 ohm instead of 1 and pushed them ffarther back. The increase was insane! went from a sounding like a decent 12 to chest pounding roof flexing (deck breaking) bass. i know the ohm load had allot to do with it, but the big differ was location of the subs. he found the right size pool!

My sub is in the middle of trunk my amp is in front of it and i have a ft of space behind box and my car used to have a skiboot i took it out and now theres a arm rest and a 60/40 fold down on the rear seat n i notice its louder with the 40 down than just the armrest but it is decently loud both ways but not as loud as i would hope for but im hoping sealing back of box off will push the sound n air pressure forward have to try n see n ill have to get pics of how everything is setup in the trunk

how wide is your box? what about pushing it all the way back and to the same side as the 40 split. then build a wall so you can still use storage on the 60 side. or is your box to wide? idk I'm gonna have to see a pic

Each vehicle will be different but if you were to put subs forward and port forward with a fully sealed off trunk that will be louder due to the fact that you wont be losing pressure out the trunk. But if you are not to seal off the trunk fully you will need to test location of subs and ports to find that specific vehicle location.
